Coach Gene Rich is
in his 15th year as a Business Teacher and Athletic Coach (11 years at Ware
Junior Senior High School). He earned his B.A. in Business Management
with a minor in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst
(2000), and his M.B.A. with a concentration in Sports Management from Nichols
College (2010). This past year, Mr. Rich obtained his administrative
license (Principal/Assistant Principal Grades 9-12).
Mr. Rich is
currently teaching Personal Finance, Accounting 1, Accounting 2, Business Math,
and Virtual High School. Mr. Rich is proud of the fact that an average of
20% of his business students from Ware go on and major in Business at the
college level. He also serves as the Class of 2016 Class Advisor and is
completing his first year as the Director of Athletics for the Ware Public
Schools District.
Prior to his
teaching and coaching career, Coach Rich was a four sport student-athlete in
high school and played basketball at the college level. Since then, he
has continued to express his true passion for athletics by sharing his
knowledge and experiences with the student-athletes of the Ware Learning
Community. As an educator, Coach Rich truly believes in using athletics
as a platform for teaching life lessons.
Coach Rich currently resides in Hardwick with his wife Pattie
and 3 daughters Carlee, Catelyn, and Calia.
