Greetings!  Hope this communication finds everyone well.  Last week we were notified by

Governor Baker of the closure of schools for the remainder of the school year.  Due to the extension of the closure Commissioner of Education, Jeff Riley, has provided additional guidance on remote learning to target “power standards” that he outlined in a communication sent to schools.  That communication has been posted to the district website for you to view. On May 8 teachers will have a professional development day to review these power standards and bridge them to the curriculum being taught.  There will be no remote learning for students on this day however we will continue to provide the Grab and Go bags at all site.

Throughout the school closure administration continues to do the district’s business.   Families who are looking for information regarding kindergarten and pre-k registration will find it posted to the SMK website next week.

With the announcement of no school for the remainder of the year came a multitude of questions from parents regarding collecting students’ items in their lockers and desks.  Due to the Stay at Home Order at this time we cannot have individuals come into the building to clean out their desks and lockers, however the administration is working on a plan in hopes of getting this accomplished soon.  This information will also be posted to the website shortly.

Ware Public Schools is encouraging all Ware parents and residents to fill out the 2020 Census. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade!  We have put a link on the Ware Public Schools website to assist you in completing the census as it can now be completed online.

We are approaching that time of year when we get ready to send off our high school seniors into the next chapter of their young lives.   Presently Mr. Rich and Mr. Roy along with the Senior Class Advisors, Mrs. Shamgochian and Mr. Trzpit, are working hard to make alternative arrangements for senior activities and graduation.  Unfortunately, in these unprecedented times it is going to take thinking outside the box in getting this accomplished however our seniors are not done yet as they work with the administration to brainstorm ideas on how we can  celebrate their outstanding accomplishments during their time at Ware Public Schools.

The administration takes great strength and pride in watching our seniors and all our students from afar.  They continue to impress me every day during these challenging times.  This past weekend I was sent a video made by the senior class titled “We’re Not Done Yet” which brought tears to my eyes as I watched the many talented and intelligent seniors looking for ways to stay connected to their classmates and encourage each other during these difficult times. Please go to the district website to view the seniors’ latest video titled “We’re Not Done Yet! “

So, until our next communication remember, Stay Home, Stay Healthy, and Stay Safe!  Washing your hands often and practice social distancing is part of what we can do to battle this virus.  Don’t stop now for if we do all of our hard work will be in vain.  Hang tough Ware we got this!
