The Ware Public Schools Superintendent Search Subcommittee will take on the incredibly important task of selecting our new superintendent and we are looking for members.
This decision will have an impact on our students, families, teachers, staff and larger community for the foreseeable future, so we do not take this on lightly.
We hope you will consider submitting your name for consideration to join this group by December 1, 2025.
OUTLINE FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH SUBCOMMITTEE
- 2 School Committee Members (Mel Whitham and Michael DuBois)
- 3 Teachers
- 2 Administrators (1 Central and 1 School)
- 3 Staff Members (Paraprofessionals, Custodians and/or Secretaries)
- 3 Parents (1 from each school)
- 3 Citizens At Large – These citizens will not have any relation to current staff, school committee members or students
- 2 Current Students (Grades 9-12)
This outline is not completely rigid, but we will strive to stay as close to it as possible when selecting members
SUBCOMMITTEE MEETINGS
This subcommittee will start meeting in the middle of December and work through the middle of February.
The first meeting will take place on
Monday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ware Junior Senior High School Library
Starting in January, meetings will take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. the weeks the School Committee doesn't meet
RESPONSIBILITIES OF SELECTED SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS
- Protect all manners of privacy throughout this process
- Determine the desired qualifications for candidates for posting the position
- Participate in productive conversations/debates about the candidates in a respectful manner
- Draft questions for candidates to answer during first round interviews and final interviews to be voted on by the School Committee
- Participate in first round interviews, take notes, and discuss with fellow subcommittee members afterward at posted meetings. All meetings are to be held in executive session and are not open to the public.
- Select the final candidates to submit to the School Committee for final consideration.
