Each year, around the time of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, we come together to celebrate the joy of reading through Community Reading Day—the culminating event of Read Across America Week. This year’s event took place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at both SMK Elementary School and Ware Middle School. It continues to be a much-anticipated tradition for students and staff alike.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this special day. Our students truly enjoyed having readers in their classrooms, engaging in conversation, and learning more about the various careers and experiences our guests shared.
As the Read Across America poem reminds us, “You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.”
Thank you for making this celebration so memorable for our students!
“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child."
