Ware Learning Community,

Hope this communication finds you well!   Not long ago I shared with you the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Initial Fall School Reopening Guidance.  Since that plan has come out Ware Public Schools have been busy working on our reopening plan that reflects DESE’s guidance, along with the Department of Public Health/Board of Health, CDC, and Pediatric Association guidance.  Knowing that students need to be in school for academic, social and emotional growth the District is working on the following:

  • Each building is doing a Feasibility Study to analyze classroom space to determine how many students each room can hold utilizing the DESE 6-foot and 3-foot requirements of social distancing. Results of the study will need to be submitted to the state shortly.

  • A district Re-opening Planning Committee has been established to work on the following areas:
  • Reflect on the MA DESE Initial Re-opening Plan
  • Remote Learning Review
  • Safety and Security Protocols
  • Social/emotional Learning Planning
  • Identifying Learning Management Platform

The District will apply these results to the three models provided by the state:  full return model, a hybrid model (some remote learning, some in-person learning), or full remote model.   As we work to complete our Re-opening Plan and Scheduling there is pertinent information that we need to reach that end.   The information needed from all families include the following:

  • Student Name & Grade
  • My child/ren will be returning to school in the fall
  • My child/ren will continue remote learning and the reason why
  • My child/ren will need bus transportation

The link to the survey can be found here: http://www.wareps.org/covid19/re-entry_form

If you need additional information to help guide your decision as to whether you will be sending your child/ren back to school for the 2020/21 school year, here is a link to the state’s website:  http://www.doe.mass.edu/covid19/

Thank you for your patience and support as we work through the many aspects of transitioning students back during this time safely.  I’m sure you have many more questions as the District is working hard to getting you answers to them as we will be putting out a Ware Public Schools Return-To-School Plan shortly.

Wishing you an enjoyable and restful summer,

Dr. Marlene A. DiLeo
