Ware Public Schools welcomed Mrs. Horn as a teacher at SMK in August 2006.  Mrs. Horn grew up and has lived in Ware her whole life.  She enjoys working in her hometown in the same school that she attended as a child.  She also enjoys being able to see former and current students outside of school at various events.

Mrs. Horn has always loved working with kids since a very young age.  Teaching runs in her family; her mother was an elementary school teacher in Ware for 30 years and her sister is a high school Spanish teacher in PA.

Mrs. Horn’s first year of teaching at SMK was as a first grade teacher.  The following year she was moved to be a kindergarten teacher and has been teaching in that grade ever since.  When asked about what it is like to be a kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Horn said “It is a very demanding job at times, but the rewarding experience to see just how far children at this young age can come within a year makes it all worth it!”

In 2005, Mrs. Horn graduated from UMass Amherst with a minor in Sociology.  She continued her education and received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2006.

When not in the classroom you can find Mrs. Horn with her husband, two children and their dog, Henry.  She enjoys spending as much time with her family as possible and watching them grow.  This past fall she coached her daughter’s soccer team.  Mrs. Horn also enjoys exercising, swimming and vacationing at the Cape or anywhere she can relax in the sun during the summertime.
