Ware Public Schools welcomed Mr. Dunlea in August 2019 as a 2nd Grade Teacher at SMK Elementary School.  Mr. Dunlea enjoys working with children and loves teaching in Ware because he finds the students especially engaging.  Each day is new adventure in the classroom with the opportunity to see students shine.  He loves how the class works in groups, participates in stations, is attentive in whole class instruction, and the general care they have for each other.  As a new teacher in Ware, he found that the staff was incredibly helpful in assisting with his transition to a new school (especially his grade 2 colleagues).  Mr. Dunlea finds the parents active in their child's education and wanting them to succeed.  He loves teaching in Ware and is glad he has the opportunity to do so.

Mr. Dunlea decided to become a teacher after spending a short amount of time in the business world.  He found that his day-to-day job was not bringing him a lot of satisfaction.  After careful consideration and recalling what he had learned while minoring in Education at Assumption College, he began working as a Teaching Assistant at Millbury Jr/Sr High School.  He realized he wanted to work with younger students and began substitute teaching in Wayland, MA at the elementary level, where he fell in love with the age group.  After completing his Master's, he began teaching 4th Grade in Westford, MA.  Mr. Dunlea is very happy to now be teaching 2nd Grade in Ware!

He is a 2005 graduate of Assumption College with a BA majoring in English with a minor in Education.  He graduated with a Masters of Elementary Education in 2015 from American International College.

Mr. Dunlea was born in Massachusetts, grew up in West Hartford, CT and currently lives in Holden, MA with his wife, son and their two dogs, Wilson and Cassidy.  When Mr. Dunlea is not in the classroom he loves spending time with his family, playing guitar and singing in a band called Sunlea, hiking, gardening and cheering on all of the New England Sports Teams!
