My name is Kelly Shamgochian and I am a new Spanish teacher at Ware Junior Senior High School. I feel very fortunate to be teaching in Ware. I am truly enjoying being a member of this wonderful community where I have an opportunity to make personal connections with my students and to work with such an amazing staff.

My love of languages began when I was in junior high. I was lucky enough to be awarded a scholarship for two summers to study Chinese and Japanese at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA. In high school and college I studied Spanish and decided to share my passion for languages by becoming a Spanish teacher.

Although this is my first year in Ware, this is my sixteenth year as an educator. I graduated from Salem State College in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and began teaching Spanish in my hometown of Gardner, MA. I also taught at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden from 2007-2016. In 2011, I earned a Master’s degree in Spanish from Worcester State University.  I have taught all levels of Spanish, from introductory levels for students with language-based learning disabilities all the way to Advanced Placement. I have extensive experience with student activities and, in other districts, I have served as a class adviser, student council adviser, and adviser of several different clubs. I am happy to be the adviser for the Class of 2020 here in Ware and I look forward to staying involved and supporting the students of Ware Junior Senior High School for many years to come.
