Ware Public Schools is encouraging all Ware residents and particularly Ware parents, to fill out the 2020 Census. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, or the location. Census results greatly determine the amount of money that is allocated to Title I, Title IIA, Title III and Title IV, among other federal and state grants, which bring funds into the district to pay teachers, reading and math specialists, paraprofessionals, tutoring programs, academic materials and assessments, credit recovery courses for high school students, as well as funding for early childhood education and special education. Additionally, these grant funds pay for professional development for administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals as well as things such as materials for socio-emotional programs and 3-D printers for our new engineering program at the high school.

Census results also affect planning and funding for the following:

  • Healthcare—including programs such as Medicaid, Medicare Part B, State Children’s Health Insurance, and the prevention and treatment of substance abuse.
  • Programs to support rural areas, to restore wildlife, to prevent child abuse, to prepare for wildfires, and to provide housing assistance for older adults.
  • Infrastructure—including programs for highway planning and construction, Section 8 housing, federal transit, community development, and rural water and waste disposal systems.
  • Census data helps communities respond to natural disasters and secure funding for hospitals and police and fire departments.
  • The results determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.
  • The census is mandated by the U.S. Constitution in Article 1, Section 2: The U.S. has counted its population every 10 years since 1790.

The Census takes only a few minutes to complete, please fill-out the Census 2020 form you received in the mail and mail it in, or do the census online at: https://my2020census.gov/ .

Thank you for doing your part to ensure that Ware gets its fair share of federal funding by filling out the 2020 Census!
