Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

As you have been informed, Ware Public Schools will be closed from March 16, 2020 through April 6, 2020 as a result of the recent COVID-19 outbreak. While standard general education and special education services are not required to be provided during this period of school closure, Ware Public Schools is fully committed to ensuring that we are providing you with the information and resources necessary to "keep learning alive," as suggested by the Senior Associate Commissioner of Education, Russell Johnston.

Principals will be in communication with you throughout the closure of school. Information regarding specific plans and enrichment resources pertaining your student’s school and the Special Education and English Learner Education Program may be found at the following link: http://www.wareps.org/covid19. If you are in need of a hard copy, it can be picked up at each of the buildings on March 17th between 11:00-1:00. Beginning March 18th, all materials can be picked up at WMS from 11:00-1:00.

Information on the Food Services Grab & Go Food Program can be found at http://www.wareps.org/covid19

Knowing that many of you have a myriad of questions, visit our FAQ sheet to help you through this transition to the school closure and what it means to your family. We will update as needed. http://www.wareps.org/covid19

We do understand maintaining a regular school-type schedule may be difficult to do in the home setting while school is not in session. However, we hope that the information and resources provided will support you and your student in taking part in activities that engage them in meaningful learning experiences during this challenging time.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at 967-4271 should you have any questions or require assistance. Lastly, should your student experience a behavioral health crisis during this period of closure and need immediate assistance, please contact the Behavioral Health Network Emergency Services at 413-733-6661.

As we embark upon these challenging times, WPS will work to offer enrichment materials for students, updating them periodically to assure students stay engaged. Knowing that this will be a difficult time for the children, teachers and staff alike, I know we have the fortitude to weather this storm and rise up on the back side of it for we are WARE STRONG! We look forward to the standard operation of our educational facilities and the safe and healthy return of our students, faculty and staff!

Sincerely,

Dr. Marlene DiLeo
Superintendent
Ware Public Schools
